Hey guys. I've been quiet for a long time. I've really got my nose to the grindstone trying to catch up on my work, chewing through my backlog and dealing with mental health and life circumstances. It's been a huge struggle and I've had a hard time communicating, because when I get in a certain state of mind, every social thing becomes so much more difficult for me. I appreciate everybody being so incredibly patient with me; I haven't forgotten anybody, I'm just trying to stay afloat.
The trouble is that I can't draw fast enough to pay the bills. I've tried for such a long time thinking, I just need to work harder, do more, if I weren't so lazy all the time I could make it, but I'm not sure how much of that is just my mental health working against me or a real assessment of my performance. Because I can't work fast enough to get it done, my turnaround time suffers and my backlog isn't shrinking as fast as I need it to, because of the amount of new work I have to pull in just to keep my roof.
I'm reaching out because my roof is coming down around me and I might not have this home for long. I'm working on finding a day job, but I haven't really got any skills, and something like McDonalds I could get, but would pay me less than I'd need; would be kind of a lateral move. But until I can get stable, I just have to make sure the rent is paid.

I don't know if it's the same where you are, but in Nevada they have a truck driver shortage. I went through the state employment agency and they said if I was interested they would pay for it.
2 months of truck school and I'm a truck driver for Tesla now. I make pretty good money mostly to listen to game grumps and audio books all day.
Maybe your local government funded employment agency can help. If you're not sure where that is in your area, the unemployment office might be able to help.

I know what a struggle it can be when you feel like McDonalds and the like is one of your only choices, and it can be extremely tough to keep looking when you can't seem to find anything. Even though I moved from a job that wasn't where I wanted to go but I was happier there than my current job which is closer to what I want but I am less happy, I'm still making progress. I spent all of last year looking for a better job and continue to look now. I decided to pivot to IT stuff since that's the closest match to the skills I have. I'm using primarily LinkedIn and more recently GlassDoor job alerts to sift through mostly gross contract jobs that suck. Keep at it, you'll get there eventually. Just don't give up.
