So, you know I have a reputation for indiscriminately hating everything about Archie and IDW, mainly because I don't want to support either of them because of the controversies of their creators
But you know what? Lemme come out and say it.
I've since come around to appreciating the Archie Comics for introducing so many characters and introducing new ideas for the fanbase to be inspired by.
Except for IDW, which can still fuck off forever.
The characters that are in Archie have a lot of potential, except for a few that are simply 1 dimensional and made to be background characters or forced romantic interests.
The villains in the comics have interesting ideas, although they aren't written to their full potential. Which is why in my universe, these villains have layers to them, and not just strictly evil for being evil. Although there are some like that, as it's sometimes ok for a villain to just love being evil, but the others will have an actual role in the stories.
For example, shockingly, I've softened up a bit on Scourge and Fiona. Don't get me wrong, they're still pieces of shit, but I'll write them to have more layers to them, true motivations and reasons for being the way they are.
For the breakup between Tails and Fiona, I couldn't help but notice that Fiona was out of character, and was easy to turn to Scourge without much of a reason. And the slap she gave to Tails was completely unnecessary.
Don't misunderstand, I still don't think she and Tails should be together. Rather, I want Fiona in my universe to serve as a chapter of Tails's life that Tails needs to let go in order to grow up.
Just like real life, first relationships never go well, and Tails needs to learn that in order to be more mature in actual relationships, which will ultimately help with his relationship with Nicole.
It'll still suck, and Fiona will still break up with him with no interest to come back, but their relationship will end on a much more positive note, and of course, no slapping.
So, most of the cast is from the games, Underground, and Satam, with a few from the comics and one from the fanbase. I'm not including Sonic Boom (save for one character Sticks), Sonic X, or Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog into the canon for personal reasons.
So um, yeah this is my two cents on what I think now of Archie Comics. I think most of the characters have a lot of potential, and if they are fitting enough to serve a role in the story, I will use them.
