As my own fursona, I am now a whole one years old. So, I think now is an arbitrarily good time to go ahead and retire the name Lemniscate. I started off as Lemniscate on SoFurry and InkBunny, but had to also start going by Lemmy Niscuit. As of right now, I'm Lemmy Niscuit in more places than I am Lemniscate, so to promote brand-homogeny, I've changed my name on SoFurry and InkBunny.

Lotta people ask me where the name Lemniscate comes from. Well, when I was creating this identity 10 years ago, I wanted it to be... Distant? I had always participated in the fandom distantly. I never had a fursona so I never had a face, and never really desired one. I wanted to be a "thing." Just this entity wrote stories that hopefully many people would enjoy. I really like math and trig, so I just picked Lemniscate, and happened to find an avatar I thought was distant enough.
And so it was like that for a really long time. Took a few years for people to start actually talking to me in comments, when giving me feedback. Started calling me Lem for short.
I don't exactly remember if it was me or someone else, but eventually Lem turned into Lemmy. And then me being me, I broke it up even further. Lem became Lemmy, and Niscate (the othe rhalf of the word) became Niscuit.
I started branching out after a while. Making friends. Talking to people. Even commissioning, as I found a way to do so comfortably. Then, a little over a year ago, I made my fursona (which you can read more about that story here, if you want).
During all of this, I also branched out to different sites. I started on SoFurry, then made my way to InkBunny. Then I wanted to have a footprint on Weasyl, but someone squatted Lemniscate there. I tried to claim it, but that never happened. So I created my account as LemmyNiscuit. As well as on FA and pretty much other places (like Charahub and Baraag) I use that, or a form of that, as well.
So now, I've got a face, and I'm LemmyNiscuit in more places than Lemniscate. So, it doesn' tmake sense for me to be Lemniscate on SoFurry and InkBunny anymore.
Thankfully these two sites have the ability to change name. So I have. I am now LemmyNiscuit errewhurr.
It's a fun and interesting progression, really. Went from one end of the spectrum to the other.
Anyway, that's the context behind the name change, and a little history if you're a new watcher and wanted to get to me a bit better.
