We pushed them to the brink, but House Republicans rammed through CISPA this afternoon, ahead of schedule.
Let's make sure it dies in the Senate: Please click here to email your Senators right away.
Our hundreds of thousands of emails and tens of thousands of phone calls have had a real impact:
Amendments were adopted that made CISPA (marginally) better.
Earlier this month CISPA was supposed to sail through, but we helped foment real opposition, and the vote was far closer than anybody could have imagined even a couple of weeks ago.
Most Democrats held firm in opposition, and more than two dozen libertarian-leaning Republicans defied their leadership and vote no.
Most importantly, President Obama has threatened to veto CISPA.
The Senate will consider cyber security legislation in the coming weeks. Let's turn up the heat right away:

"Most Democrats held firm in opposition, and more than two dozen libertarian-leaning Republicans defied their leadership and vote no." This is somewhat like what happened with SOPA/PIPA. Most Democrats say nay, most Republican's say yay. Most of congress is computer illiterate. So they either notice the complaints from the people, or vote with their lobbyist. I'm seeing a trend here. I don't want to start a party argument, neither side is perfect, but just looking at this, the Democrats care about our rights more.
"Most importantly, President Obama has threatened to veto CISPA." If he says and follows through on things like that, then I say 4 more years.
I really don't want this to be a Democrat vs Republican thing; 9 times out of 10 that leads to an unpleasant argument that doesn't get anywhere. But every time I see something like this, I find it a little more difficult to find a Republican I can respect. That's just how it happens.

Very much understood, my reason for posting this was to have it be known among those of you watching me here and to encourage signing the petition. I also agree that neither side is perfect.
