I dedicate this journal...
To the men and women who serve this country.
To the soldiers, sailors, airmen and more who risk, or risked, their lives for my ability to write this in comfort and safety.
To the heroes who risked and lost their lives for us all, from the First World War to the ongoing War in Afghanistan and beyond.
To their allies, the criados, and everyone who lost lives, family and more, for our prosperity, security and the treacherous foibles of politics we all would rather be without.
To everyone, of all nations, with the honor and integrity to fight for something greater than themselves.
On this ANZAC Day, I'm proud to be who and what I am, and of the nation from which I hail.
War is no source of pride. Death is no measure of life. Politics do not diminish sacrifice.
So to those who serve, or served, in good faith, you are heroes.
Live on in our memory, with respect and gratitude, forever.
