Am I just the odd one out?

I feel like my main interest, gaming, is changing without me. Sure everyone knows about the increase in multiplayer based games, but how people view them seems to also be changing. I view games like how people view movies, a new form of art, and want to respect that a lot of people put real effort into making games. But corporations get in the way, leading to the rise and commercialization of indie developers.

I don’t like to mod games until I’ve done at least one play through, or the developers are okay with it, but it seems like it’s becoming more common to take the base game and treat it like it doesn’t matter. Or people out right cheat in games meant to be played a certain way, like using geo-spoofers or mods that give you a competitive edge. It’s looked down on but it still seems way to common. I just don’t see why people get a game and then decide they need to be the best no matter how they get there.

Christ I sound like some stick in the mud asshat. But I’m kind of worried that I won’t be able to enjoy playing with my friends because they use game altering mods and act like I’m weird for not wanting to cheat my way to the finish line. Maybe I need knew friends, maybe I should stop trying to play games, maybe I should sit in a corner and suck on my thumb because I’m a dumb baby who just doesn’t get it.

There's no right way to play games. You like your games vanilla and that's okay
