It was released before most word processors were made. Double Damn!

It was MS Excel before Microsoft became such a major force in the industry. Triple DAMN!!!

But really, though I made my money making video games for First Star Software in those days, being able to use and have a copy of VisiCalc is where I was able to gain employment in various areas and circles of knowledge (being a fast typist also helped). Man I swear, who knows how many inventory reports, program budget, and student reports I did with it. Thousands?

But of course computers and software evolve. VisiCalc would be replaced by (and bought by as well) Jazz and then Lotus 123, and Microsoft would release MS Work- Excel. Damn, the memories. The constant learning and relearning of very specific programs to keep one's job. If you were not bleeding on the cutting edge, you were left behind never being able to catch up. It is so unlike now where you can learn some skills in Web programming and it will carry you for the next 10 years - which is a descent run.
