Who would have thought that a simple walk would mean so much. As I've said before, my mom has been improving steadily ever since her aneurism. She and I spend a lot of time together, and last weekend was one of the best. Normally, mom is too tired to do any long stretches of walking. Usually around the block is all she'll tolerate. Granted, these are Yonkers blocks, but still its kind short. Last weekend, we walked 3 long circuits to the stores at South Broadway. She was not as fatigued as she normally gets, but the best part is that she decided to do it on her own. If that's not a step up, than I don't know what is
She told me that her PT docs told her she'll get a leg brace that gently zaps the muscles to help her build the muscles and the nerve impulses. She's been practicing with it at the hospital for the last few weeks, and I've noticed a sharp improvement in her movements as well as her confidence. Makes me pretty darn happy.
