Picture Organizer

by
After wasting $150 on Adobe Lightroom and finding out it doesn't even support PNG files* I'm returning it.

I'm curious what otherfurs use to organize their pictures?  Aside from RAW files, I would like to be able to organize JPG, PNG and possible GIF files.

In before, "you dumbass you should have tried the trial version first". :D

Thanks!

Picasa is very nice, and it supports RAW, as well as basically everything else.  Also it is free. :3

Normally I try and stay away from Google anti-privacy products but I might give it a try.  My issue is I have all my pictures on a network storage device so I need something that maintains a database of thumbnails otherwise it takes forever to find anything.

Not sure what you mean by anti-privacy, but Picasa doesn't shared or upload your images anywhere unless you tell it to.  As for thumbnail databases, yes, it does keep a cache of thumbnails.

It is also worth mentioning that Picasa can handle RAW in real time, practically as fast as a png.

There was something kooky about Picasa that I hated, but I don't remember what it was anymore.  I will check it out again.  I think it had to do about sorting by EXIF date or something crazy like that.  I see they've improved it, or at least added G+ features.

Thanks, I figured it out.  When I installed it, I told Picasa I didn't want it changing all my file associations which is what caused the problem.  When I went to add PNG files to my library, it would let me select them, but give an error opening them.  The answer was to go into Tools > Options  > File Types and turn on PNG.

Silly, but its working now.  Thanks!

I'm sure Google doesn't care about you drawing :) or do they?

I don't know, been a part of Google since 5-6 years ago and even more a part when I got my first Android phone.

Just in closing of this journal, I've found ACDSee Pro to closest match my requirements.
