Giant Roomba

Was in my local Walmart the other night when I saw they had modified a ride on floor scrubber to work like a Roomba. The steering wheel and such was still there but it running back and forth without anyone there

Yeah, it seems that the Golden Sphincter is starting to utilize more automation in order to cut costs down and have less employees. I have seen the robot scrubbers in a few Golden Sphincters here in the DFW area myself.

I've read stories about this but rarely go into a Mal*Wart. It makes me wonder to what extent they can automate the stores. The one here has self-check lanes. They probably have those floor scrubbers and inventory scanning bots now too. There's also a meat store nearby that's open 24 hours with no employees.

Unless it drops prices people will only put up with it to a point. Of course as long as it works and works properly people probably wont say much

Most stores have self check lanes nowdays and the number of them have increased in the last few year. Lately it seems during the overnight hours none of the local Walmarts have anything other than self-check lanes open.. The local Krogers (Groccery chain tied with others all over the US) has scanners that you can scan your shopping as you go and pay before leaving
