So our ferret Freddy has been really sick the past week and we originally took him to the vet we took Weasel to, they took a radiograph and weren't sure, they were thinking possible Pneumonia. After he showed no signs of improvement and started not eating, I decided it was time to take him to the vet again. So yesterday I took a half day off at work and took him to a vet closer to my work. Turns out he had something stuck in his intestines and needed an emergency exploratory surgery. The vet honestly wasn't super convinced he would survive the surgery... Luckily after about 2hours of anxiously waiting, we got the call that surgery went great and he was slowly waking up.
He's been doing okay, but not amazing, but with how close he was to dying I'm not shocked he's recovering so slowly. Today I dropped him off at yet another vet since the doctor who did his surgery wasn't working today and none of the other vets there are comfortable seeing ferrets. So he is getting IV fluids all day today and an injection for any nausea.
All this being said we had a $1200 bill from the vet. Luckily I just got a loan from my bank to put towards our moving expenses so I had money to cover it, but now we are short on the money we need to move and all that v_v plus the expenses of following up at the vet. Unfortunately none of the vets at my clinic are comfortable seeing exotics, so I don't get that huge employee discount I would get if he were a dog or cat.
I'm not going to ask or beg for donations, as I feel I do that too often and I don't feel right doing that to you guys. I've had some friends generously help some already and my gratitude is impossible to convey.
