They're creepy and they're kooky; they're altogether… wait one moment!

by
It's become a normal thing these days to take some old property, dust it off, and make some awful movie out of it.  One of the latest is The Munsters, which doesn't look too bad so far.  That's based on one still image that's pretty cool.  For those who don't remember them the Munsters were a family of cheesy monsters in a sitcom.  In it's time it was pretty good.  Any show with Fred Gwynne driving around in an awesome George Barris custom car was just too cool.  Hopefully the remake will be worth watching on Netflix if not in the theater.

But wait a moment.  They're ripping off Princess Luna's style!  Check this out.

" Our wardrobe is heavily influenced by Alexander McQueen and his use of animal textures. For instance, with [the vampire] Lily, all of her wardrobe comes from nature. The first time we see her this nest of spiders weaves her dress on her body as she’s standing there. We’ll see ravens come in and assemble her blouse out of their feathers. We won’t see animal skins because the animals are donating as opposed to dying for it. She has domain over nature and nature has a fantastic esthetic.

What, no bat cloak?

Haha, I can't believe I just posted a journal about the Munsters movie copying from My Little Pony (FiM).

I actually saw the last Turtles reboot in the theater when it opened.  It wasn't horrible.  It just wasn't great.  I'm not intending to even bother with this next one.  Blech!

See, I'm old enough to remember (and still have) the original TMNT comics from the mid 80's. There was no pizza. There was no idiot surfer speak. All of their headbands were the same color, and no stupid initial belt buckles. What there was was great art and writing and a hell of a lot of really gory fight scenes. (Foot soldiers were human.) Also, Raphael was borderline alcoholic.
It's rare that a re-imagining of an existing property does justice to the original.

haha yes i remember the comics as well though i read them AFTER wacthing 80's cartoon, and was mortified at how AWESOME it was! was merely stating that, TMNT was based off of the older movies WHICH tried to get alot closer to the comics and to some degree succeeded while still keeping it a kids show.

If you watch the cross over movie they did, of TMNT turtles and 80's turtles actually have old school comic turtles in that cartoon and some of comments they make to turtles is funny! Anyway i'm with you...comics were awesome in comparison to what we have now, in fact...love to pick up again at some point and read it through, been YEARS since i have read those i hardly remember them now... i remember fuji(i think was it) robot, dino guys were in it as well i believe... and didnt leo cut shredders head off? >> pretty sure he did...

Yeah, and how did that go? Cause I remember it not being very interesting. I was never a huge Munsters fan,but the old show could hold my attention. Of the new movie,I have to say the mansion looks pretty cool. Still,I don't like the idea of Lily being a druid instead of a vampire. And GOD HELP THEM IF THEY SPARKLE!!!

I remember two relaunches.  A series, and a made for TV movie.   The series tried to be more "updated", and at the least it was something to watch on Sundays.

And GOD HELP THEM IF THEY SPARKLE!!
- Grandpa's latest experiment had some odd side effects.

I rather enjoy the classic Munsters. Not sure if this will ever make it to Europe, but even if it does, I'm not sure I will watch it.

If it does make it across the Atlantic you'll have a good idea of how decent or awful it is by then.

I had always wished that back then they had made a movie where The Addams Family and The Munsters meet. When I say back then I mean during the time when both shows originally aired. I can picture Uncle Fester and Grandpa Munster working in a lab together. Mortica and Lily complementing each other on their ghoulish housekeeping. I believe it could have been one unique movie. Way too late for that now *sigh*
