Ugh, I hate when artists force you to pay money on Patreon just to see their work! Most YouTubers don't hide their videos behind a paywall, they just use Patreon to give people stuff like early access, request something for them to review or draw, stuff like that! And in an age where there's literally THOUSANDS of hentai pics and videos on the internet for FREE, why should we be expected to give you, hypothetical Patreon artist, our money before we even know if we like it or not?!

I'll tell you why I pay him 10$ a month: I love his work and I want to see more of it. Sure, he could do it without a paywall but how much porn do you think that he would be able to create after working for 8 hours each day such that he can survive? Probably not much. I'm paying him to increase the rate at which he produces his wonderful work, not only does he get more time to draw but seeing that people want to support him most likely gives him a huuuuuge morale boost which in turn makes him work even more and harder.

Unless you have over a million subs, YouTubers don't really make that much off of ad revenue, especially with all the ad-pocalypses the platform has gone through in recent years. Yes, I realize that artists need to make money, but locking out those that can't afford to pay $10 a month isn't the right way to go. There are other ways to make money on Patreon, such as commissions and giving people early access. If you make good artwork, then people will want to give you money because they genuinely love your content and not because they're forced to. It's the same idea as with anime and video game piracy.
If you wanna give this guy money, that's perfectly fine. But don't go brushing off other people's opinions on the matter as them being "arrogant".
