Age Group?

I've been pondering alot about what age I should make my characters. Most of them should be around the same age, so it's a matter of determining what number that age should be. I've been making most of them 10, but I was also considering 11 or 12 for some reason.

What do you all think? Lemme hear your opinions!

I honestly don't really consider age much when viewing porn. To me its more about how mature the characters are/aren't and how innocent they are/aren't and beyond that I more or less mentally file characters into more general age groups. 10-12 would for me all fall into the same general age group. I can't mentally picture what the difference is between 10 and 12.

Didn't really answer your question but I thought my viewpoint was an interesting one to share. If you have a an idea of what the difference is between 10, 11, and 12 I could maybe come up with a more concrete answer though! xD

That's the problem. I can't find a difference either xD.

I guess the only significance with that age group is how soon you're going to get into junior high school, or deviate from the usual kiddy genre into indulging in another genre type. (Like from listening to kids rhymes to pop music.)

I'm kinda indecisive!

Sorry to weigh in, I overthink everything. ;—;

Eleven plus or minus two years, covers a good range of development for secondary sexual characteristics and social interaction development. In this range you can have characters that shun approximate same age peers due to insignificant ideations of maturity, puberty (the real game changer), complex interactions based on the social dynamics of leaving elementary school for a larger and more aggressive setting, while still having characters that show naiveté and innocence, sexual exploration would be expected and technically normal in this range (I might be assuming a bit on this part as the range pertains—or doesn't—to your characters), and at this age size differences between members of different species can become a noteworthy aspect of the interactions should you be so inclined.

Again, I'm sorry for my opinion. Feel free to disregard. Also, I look forward to what you come up with. ˆ—ˆ

Nothing concrete yet. I'd like to hear everyone's opinions first to make an informed decision. I just like to have constructive input to think over. ^^

i allways liked 8-12 but I supose thats a bit of a range i figured 8 was a good middle kid age with anything younger being a little kid and anything older being close to or at "big kid" age XD

Haha, i'm definitely going to keep Java at single digit age if anything. Why that age range though? :o

I usually do 9-12 -u- That's definitely the point where you can start developing the start of a Personality without it feeling forced or awkward!

-u- Just my opinion though!

Even though I have a baby adopt, 7-10 is my range for the young ones.

Um, maybe 9-11. Dunno, it kinda depends what interactions, discoveries/explorations and social interactions they are going to be having...

My characters range in all ages.

I’ve started putting the age of my characters as how much older or younger they are compared to my primary sona. Locking then down to a specific age feels weird, because I want to be able to put them in a lot of different situations that might be age dependant.

Thats true too. Hmm  i think right now my concern is trying to give them an age that fits with their look, yet still trying to keep them as cubs instead of teens.

The problem with that a young character wouldn't develop much of an individual personality of their own. So i guess i'm looking for a sweetspot.

.... or having the whole cake and eating it. XP

That 10 to 12 range certainly does sound about right for that time of life. In the US at least, that's the end of elementary school, start of middle school age, which certainly seems to be when a lot of kids start to become their own person.

Edit: Looked a little further into the personality development of human children. Generally speaking, it seems that true personality doesn't really start to develop until adolescence. Behavioral responses to situations, which are a starting indicator of personality, do start in the 11-12 year old range.

You could theoretically go younger if you wanted to and pass it off as animals maturing faster than a human would, we are talking about a fantasy world in the end, so anything can go. :3

Oh lord don't get me started on country settings. I'm still trying to decide if i should stick to America as the world setting or come up with something else. The problem with the latter is its alot of work xD

But mmm... 10 to 12 sounds about right. Seems like what a good number of folks lean towards too. 9.9
