Answer If You Can

1. How did people come to start saying "u jelly?"?  Every time I hear this, I think about the vore themed Jellyworld of Neopets, and it has a totally different meaning to me than it does to others.

2. How is it that nearly every other country that has general internet use knows of and hears music from the USA, but the USA hardly ever hears music from anywhere else?

I may be asking more questions as they come, but I these two were itching at my mind.

It seems like corporate bullshit: keep non-american music off of the air to maximize internal profits, but I was wondering if there was any other possible explanation.

That and I think that they don't see the need in Playing it.
If it was so good people would ask for it.
but how the hell can we ask if you don't know about it??

Interestingly enough, I already listen to the Yoshida brothers.  I can't read the name here, but this Japanese rap is... well it's better than rap in english, but it is still rap, and I don't consider rap a good art form.  *keeps having to backspace the final e on rap*

"u jelly?" is an abbreviation for "(are) you jealous?" - most useful when people make infurated comments because others have too much fun.

As for the music, I guess there are three factors that reinforce each other: Mildly (at good times) xenophobic patriotism, a whole continent of their own cultrue that already produces music and fills much of most American's horizon (and why wouldn't it, it is a contintent's worth of information), and, like you already suspected, the corporations trying to keep foregin competition out of the mind of their intended customers.
