lol I hear ya. the BS about that is it also makes it easer to rip off the work as your own and claim "you simpily copied that person's style" when it comes to secret commissions so this is a good way to ensure it doesn't happen like that

Respect is a two-way street though. If you want people to respect your wishes to do anonymous commissions you also should consider that some artists may want to only do art they can publish. Published art brings watchers and attention to the artist, and lets them show off something they worked hard on. Some artists don't mind not posting the occasional private piece, and others may only want to draw things they can post. It's not a matter of understanding on the artist's part at all, we certainly understand keeping some things private and often have personal art we don't share, but a lot of commissioners need to understand when we spend a lot of time on a piece/pieces then can't post it, our other watchers only see a gap in our art and may wonder why we aren't drawing (even though we are!). Then you have people like the one in the above post who think it's okay to share art people requested remain private, or "only share it with me!". Private commissions can cause a lot of problems, I can certainly attest to that, but they can also bring in extra money since not every artist does them.
