when they asked a silly question, would you take 100 million dollars as a lump sum or take $50 thousand a month and after you die it would continue to the beneficiaries you choose. I jumped in and explained logically that the lump sum was the best option.
I went into full detail how the banks make money off your money, talked about investing, mentioned inflation and trusts/wills. And how you have control of your own money. Also how investing would almost double your money in less than 20 years while having full control of it. I went full wanna be financial analyst mode on this question. But of course I mentioned getting the help of a professional financial advisor too. All this in an orderly logical manner explaining reasons as to why for everything.
where he called out the faulty original post by the OP, he mentioned 50K a month and then on the next sentence 50K a week. I mentioned that I only zeroed in to the 50K a month. And that the journal post was sloppily written.
So the IB user got it's panties in a bunch and deleted my adult answer and banned me from commenting on his posts and account.
So much for using pure common sense, logic and reasoning. *FACEPALM*
Really, sometimes I hate the new generation of annoying younger kiddie furries. Maybe it's the reason I dislike some of them immature ones so much and only socialize with those close to my age.

I've noticed however that in discussions with people over if they'd take an annuity or lump sum payout of a lotto prize, most seem to want the annuity as they think it's the better deal because "you get more money"
... when in reality it costs you more in taxes and such over the payout, as well as the fact that with proper investing you can make WAY more money than the annuity would pay.

And, BINGO! What I mentioned too! With smart investing you can almost double your money in less than 20 years. By taking annuities the bank makes profit off your money and pays you the table scraps.
