Art thoughts

I do most of my idle rambling on Twitter, due to the ease of use and quickness of exposure and feedback, but I do get a respectable amount of feedback here, and post all the time, so I should probably at least paraphrase them here for you guys~

I'm really happy with where I've gotten with artwork at this point.  I can imagine something, and almost always make it happen close to how I imagined it.  I routinely draw things that I like more, than what I once used to pay $30-$50 USD as commissions from others for.  A lot of times, I can just get all the little details right myself, the easiest.  I might not have the most creative or inventive mind, and do a lot of similar sorts of things -- but I still fairly regularly draw pics where, at the end, or the next morning, I'm like "wow, I made that" -- and it feels super good. I don't really have any grand lesson to speak of here, but you often see artists shit-talking themselves and their skills and their progress, and I just wanna say it's not all like that. I enjoy it more than anything lately, it's a ton of fun, and I feel like I improve every day. I still have a ton of things to learn, a ton of things to experiment with and improve on, but now more than ever, I can really see how I will one day get there.  What I can do now would have been impossible four years ago, and four years from now, I hope I can say the same thing.

If you are doing some sort of artwork pursuit, and think it's too hard or you're too bad, just like.... do it anyways.  Bit by bit.  Every thing won't be a masterpiece, and a lot of it will be just kind of... whatever.  But each time, you'll learn something, and for the next one, you can apply it.  I really don't think there's much in the way of inherent skill, it's almost all learned.  And like, yeah, there will always be better artists, every day I see so much stuff here, on Twitter, on FurAffinity, otherwise, where it's like, wow, look at the amazing things ALL THESE PEOPLE are doing -- but I have no idea how long it took them to do.  And each one of them had a similar path here, where they started drawing hot garbage, but kept at it, and bit by bit, got where they are, and I think anyone could, really.  It's not a competition, and them being 'better' doesn't make you worse.  Like that comic with the dude who made a super amazing cake, and the guy who makes a less-good cake.  It's still a great cake that everyone can enjoy. l3

Yeah I guess that's it, happy Easter, go find your nearest bunny and kiss them~ <3
