Update: More major changes

Well, at 7 months into my medical transition, I am doing quite well. Took a major step last week, and went before a judge for my legal name and gender change! I now have a driver’s license with a female name, female photo, and female sex indicated on it! Banking and insurance have my new info, and I am working on updating everything else.

Still struggling to write at all. I have at least thought about plot developments and dialog for ‘Alpha Rivals 2’ and for ‘Swiss Mix’. But I just can’t seem to get anything typed up, to my satusfaction. Hard to concentrate on writing when my personal life is going through such a radical change.

Now I know what a caterpillar feels like, when becoming a butterfly!

Aw, that's amazing! I can't imagine how great a feeling that must be, but I'm happy for you <3

But holy cow, I was just recommending Swiss Mix to a friend yesterday and now this? Awesome!

Congrats on the steps you have taken. But take your time to heal and recover from the transition steps you are taking.

Thanks. The hardest part, in terms of healing and recovery, will start in about 6-18 months. That is when the surgical changes begin. At least three hospital stays, in a town two hours drive from my home, with recovery time for each. And a year or more of follow-up care after that, mostly at home. I have people who can be with me while I am in the hospital, and who can drive me there, and bring me back when I am fit to travel. I have people who live with me and can assist me. But for a few months, even getting out of bed to use the bathroom will be a challenge.

My writing may benefit, in two ways. While stuck in bed, I can use my laptop and a lap desk to write, to keep my mind off how I feel. And the few characters in my stories who are themselves going to go through transition will be written from life experience!
