Unfortunately there is always that one customer that does this,
and, unfortunately, there's nothing that can be done to change his opinion.

Though, this does not make your art any less buyable,
or lower the quality of your pictures. There will always be people there to support you!

Because some people are only happy when they've done their best to make others miserable. Add to that the fact that they have 'internet balls of steel' syndrome, and you get some of the worst, most annoying trolls on the internet, because they believe that no matter what they do or say online there will be no consequence for them, and sadly this is often the case.

All the same, I wouldn't have Favorited/watched Vannie if I didn't like the art and style, and there's no reason for Vannie to be insulted or slandered by someone with nothing better to do with their time.

ugh, it's sad when people do this sorta thing. I can understand if you don't get what you paid for, but if you're asked at each step and you say you're good with it, then there's no reason to be like that.

I hope your commissioners do come forward and stand up for you. Best of luck.

As I always say, I don't believe rumors, never had. Besides, one can tell an honest person from someone who isn't, and you are definitely an honest person. It can be told in your demeanor, policy, and professionalism. Plus you're a great person. I know it's hard to tell online who is a good person and who isn't, but I could tell you aren't someone who is talented and isn't pretentious about it, which speaks alot about your character. :) You will always have my support. <3

i am unhappy with a commission i got last year not from you. But i would never go around slandering someones name or spreading crap the only people who do that are utter scum of the earth.If you have a problem with someone go talk to them don't be spreading shit around

Thats exactly it... I made sure numerous time during the commission process that everything was fine and good to go, he was satisfied with it when I finished it aswell :c

Yet now, after 6 months he does something like that, without even trying to contact me earlier :c

Once I'm able, I fully intend to commission you again myself...

You have a wonderful policy for handling your commissions, and you are incredibly professional in how you do business... This, bad customer, shouldn't be allowed to bad-mouth you because he's unhappy about something...

You're a great artist, and will continue to gain new and repeat customers. Besides, I'm a firm Brouwer in "Believe nothing you hear, and only half of what you see..."

To me, that shows greater maturity than they did, and speaks well of you :)
Though I am terribly curious to hear what they were saying about you, just for the giggles!

While I'm sure it was hurtful, please do remember that it's not about them. Nobody provides a service for douchebags (mostly): instead, people provide a service for those who appreciate their work. *Those* are the people it's all about. The others? If they're too dumb to just move on, then fuck 'em. They don't matter.

If there were lots of them, then en masse, they might matter. That's what protests are about.

But a tiny minority of grumpy or crazy individuals? That's not a pattern, that's just random crackpots. All too often I see artists disillusioned of the community because of the actions of a very few ass-hats. And it just shouldn't be that way. Haters shouldn't get to dictate how you feel.

That's the fans' job! :P

I can appreciate the artist updating and askijng if everything is ok. If it isn't, I usually do a redline correction to show what I'm looking for.

If the art was completed based on the communication between you and him, then he's got nothing to bitch about.

Just remember, though: Document, document, document. I can't say it enough. Document everything. That was when someone pulls a stunt like this, you can pull up the documentation to go with their commission, and show exactly what process was followed, and if something legitimate comes up, it can be recognized and corrected for. :-]

While there is an "artist" who does this to those who have commissioned her, it's unfair to juxtapose this upon someone like you who actually has a commissioning policy I personally like-- That is, someone willing to work on each stage and fix mistakes, to ensure the customer is satisfied with the completed work, and be as communicative as possible.

Heck, I was burned on my last commission-- While I was satisfied with my first commission from this artist (it's my featured submission, even though I could have made one of my stories a featured submission-- I'm a writer, not an artist), my second one was a disaster, and refuse to post it publicly. I did get a refund ($5- That's what I could afford), but she was uncommunicative, and when the work was "finished", it was not only not what I asked for (right character, right general theme of cheesecake, but missing a few things), but there were glaring mistakes in the drawing (misplaced tail, wrong colours) that she refused to fix. I consider the matter closed, and have no desire to pursue it any further. It's history, now- I move on.

Not long after, when another artist on FA (before I left there, officially) posted a do/don't-do list for artists and customers, I put my word in about communications. You, my dear Vannie, follow those very suggestions I made-- Communication, on both sides, is muy importante!

If I could afford it (which is not that common of an occurrence for me, being I'm on SSI), I would commission you-- You are very good, with solid art quality. Your communication as a commissionable artist is a BIG plus, which would put you amongst artists I would first ask, should I be ready to commission anyone.

I know that when I commissioned you, there was an aspect of the initial sketch I wanted changed. You changed it and ensured the result was what I wanted. I'm quite happy with the whole process. I don't see why someone would complain.

I like my skunk does by others and would never say bad stuff about tem, mostly I bet this peson doen't draw either. That is th worse kind a critic. hugs My only problems are the ones that you trust and pay and never get anything back from them

This person knows your art is the best of the best, so he is only trying to get a piece "for free" by using lies to scare you into refunding him/her. This is slander and is only a scare tactic. No matter what this person does, if you stand your ground, you come out as the better person

I don't understand why people do this crap. You should post his name on artists beware so others know about what he did to you. He lies and tarnishes your name then tarnish his and give warning so others don't suffer from the same thing.

That process is simple to figure out: I got what I wanted by complaining, threatening and harassing from artist X so I'll try it on artist Y, Z... it will work again.

Having been on the other end of the issue; where artists took the money and ran, I always approach those issues with caution. That being said, few artists ever keep their fandom alive if they tend to be unprofessional.
I feel a prisoner of 2 artists I've paid and have yet to see sketches or even answered mails from.
If it were not the case I would have commissioned you and many other artists since then.
A work from you would have been glorious and make me so happy.
Alas; I can't run a tab and loose track of the artists.

I walk a fine line to avoid harassing them or annoy them enough that they will botch the job or just keep my money.
These situations are very delicate.
I wish you'll get through this okay!

I know I haven't been on for awhile, but don't sweat it. Haters gonna hate, and besides -- if you think about it, it really goes to show how good you really are at what you do and how you do it. If that wasn't the case, that comissioner wouldn't have trolled like they did........so fuck em' xD Keep acheiving awesomeness xD!!!

lol, I actually talked to this guy the other day on f-list. He was complaining about the picture, thought it was something recent. Now that I look at the post of the pic, it doesn't make sense to complain about it now after so long. If Vannie is just now hearing about him QQing now, then that tells me it just started recently. Which means he is about half a year to late to be demanding anything back for a pic he was just fine with up until now. Maybe he is just going through a tough time and needs money, so he decided to turn on someone he bought art from to try and get money... either way, he is an ass for waiting this long to say anything. He lost any right to complain a long time ago.

Some people are just dicks, it's a sad fact of life. Don't let this person get under your skin Vannie, and don't worry too much about some trollish smear campaign. These kind of childish antics are nothing new in the fandom, and true fans and friends would not let the words of one disgruntled commissioner impact how they think of you. Trolls become easy to spot when they do this kind of shit, and in the end only accomplish one thing - turning themselves into a social pariah.

This kind of immature slander is the mark of a bottom feeder. From what little I know of you, your commissions and your dealings with commissioners, you've been exemplary in your behaviour. Add six months and it's no dissatisfied customer, it's a troll.

I would've posted said troll's name as a warning to other artists, but you're apparently doing a better work than I could've done in your shoes. Kudos~ <3

Best way to deal with people like that is to not give them what they want. The pleasure gained from the chaos they create in other people's lives. Ignore them. Completely. Remove/moderate their posts where you can. Have admins quiely remove them where you cannot. Do whatever you can to sever any remaining ties or holds they have of you and wash your hands of them. Pretend they do not exist. Don't empower them by talking about them or reacting in any way to the attacks and flames. Starved of their flame's fuel they will move on.
