Or, to put it simply, why are people after amassing follower numbers?
I mean it's kind of a different big deal when people judged a channel by their subscriber numbers or someone on Twitter by their follower numbers but it doesn't exactly verify if they're trustworthy or not. Someone on Twitter could have a lot of followers, but they follow a lot of people too--tens of thousands perhaps. Perhaps the idea of successful in the 21st century is to gain as much followers as possible?
There's something more about sticking around with smaller streamers or artists, for example, because you feel more belong to whatever community they're in, even if you don't interact with them as much. But then on the other side of the argument, people want to make it big so that their reach goes worldwide--and then what?
The only thing I concluded when I saw a video about Ninja viewership goes down is that people don't care about someone famous in particular--yet people seem to give a heck about big important numbers...I suppose this is how the Internet communicates what's good and what's not now?
This one isn't that much an actual thought (it's more rambly, really) but I think it's worth putting out there still.
