Hey guys.
It's been a while, largely because my PC STILL has not been successfully repaired.
To be quite honest, I'm getting pretty fucking pissed off about that. It's a brand new computer. I got it shortly before Christmas. It shouldn't require EVERY single component to be replaced.
Oh, and the best part? Because something got totally fucked on it, the hard drive has to be reformatted. Which means all my game stuff, all my arts and videos I had on here that I didn't back up (cuz, y'know, it's not really usual to expect catastrophic system failure less than 3 months out the gate) are gone. I didn't have a WHOLE lot on there. A surprising amount of furry stuff that got sent to me that I'm going to have a hard time getting back.
My Skyrim file is gone, too. I don't know how many hours I had put into it (40? 60? I dunno, I was level 50-something), so that's a frustration. Feels like a big waste of time.
I had a bunch of neat things bookmarked that I'll lose and have trouble remembering/finding again.
I was building a playlist of music to make my life at work liveable, and also to play when I go on breaks in Streams, and for playins and outs when I'm talking.
This also means that my save file in Chrono Trigger is gone, as well. So that GameStream is on indefinite hiatus. Sorry if you guys were enjoying it. Really, I am. I'm sure I'll build up the stomach to get that far again. After all, I did get there in just two streams. It's not in the realm of impossibility, but I wouldn't count on it any time soon.
Needless to say, I'm really pissed off, and it wouldn't surprise me if the tech somehow fucked something up (seriously? Fucking up a driver installation?) that caused the corruption that's necessitating the hard drive wipe.
I'm going to take advantage of this opportunity to remind everyone to make frequent backups of their data, regardless of how new your computer is. You never know when total system failure will strike. Whether it's 3 months or 30 or 300, eventually you're going to want that data secured elsewhere. External hard drives are well worth the price (~$90 for 500GB) to keep your data safe from incidents like the one I've encountered.
THANKFULLY, I hadn't completed moving everything off my laptop yet, so much of the data I DO have is still safe (my stories, some furry porn, etc) but the stuff I was using most often got poofed.
I'm quite frustrated about the whole ordeal and quite ready to get my computer back after over 3 weeks of it being gone.
On a positive note, I'm moving tomorrow. I may not have internet access for the first few days (if I do not have internet over the long weekend, I am going to be fucking wicked pissed), but you guys can bet your appendages that I'm going to be back online, tearing shit up as soon as furrily possible.
