National Emergancy???

by
Usually refuse to get into Political discussions they just lead to strife and such..
Agree disagree it doesn't matter the idea so many people can delay action sets a dangerous precedent. I know people will disagree but keep in mind how many times someone has complained something being declared an emergency and now they can drag that into court delaying or even stopping necessary action

I'm more concerned about the more dangerous precedent set as I said in another comment to you - that a President can simply override their checks and balances and rule by decree by declaring a national emergency.

Well its been a part of Presidental powers for a long time much like Executive Orders

Yea, but that’s not what it’s for. If you have publicly debated for months about a national emergency then it’s not an emergency. Historically this has been used for sudden events like natural disasters, not because the president is a terrible negotiator and didn’t get his way. By that logic he could declare a national emergency for anything he isn’t getting money for.

Indeed!

Actually no - the powers were not meant to be used to override rule of law. They were used for actual emergency situations; providing aid or responding to something like war.

This is a use of the power solely to override constitutional checks on the power of the President for nothing more than the fragile ego of a failed businessman and the equally fragile ego of those so blinded by hate they need a monument constructed to be a manifestation of it.

You can, as well as anyone, look back at past declarations and see for yourself that this is a break from them.

Trump is interesting because he has demonstrated that there is a difference between an attention seeking troll and an attention seeking toddler.  Like a child, Trump has no control, he needs any attention he can get, either good or bad.  A troll wants attention but is not dependent upon it.

That's why it is stunt after stunt, scheme after scheme, whatever Trump has to do to keep attention focused on him.  A troll meanwhile, would want to look competent at least, and not happy to be a bumbling boob as long as it drew attention and got noticed.

Trump's obvious mental health problems and his failing memory are the likely cause of his reversion to a childish state.

As for the topic at hand, this specific Trump stunt for attention, I think it's a hard sell to declare a national emergency based on alt-facts that bear no resemblance to reality.

It's an emergency how much he hates immigrants. He wants us to be panicking about them so badly.

I don't even know what you're trying to say about this.

That's OK because only time will see if I am right or not.  The political solution is the right one not a legal challenge since a legal challenge by states or other parties sets the future possibility of other emergencies being delayed for political reasons or just because one region doesn't like the idea of spending money there

I was kinda hoping for something more straightforward. But you can keep it to yourself if you want. =P

It might seem straightforward but it's not by any means. Now days more than ever
