Honestly every holiday is one. I can't think of a holiday that doesn't have sale going on. I mean maybe Arbor Day. Everything else is very focused on commercialization.
Don't settle for consumerism, it's powered by corporate greed. This includes Christmas too. Don't buy into it, make your gifts or just skip it all together.

Here's what I like about holidays. Christmas and Thanksgiving you get to spend more time with family. Halloween, kids get candy for free and how can you hate kids getting free candy? We all did when we were kids. And the discounts. This year after Christmas there were still boxes of cherry candy canes at my Dollar General for a quarter. You can't beat that.
