Fuf

Sick husband

by
Hey sweetlings!

Moppie is very ill and he just pinched a nerve in his back again.. I'm gonna be caring for him and try to get him to rest it out and not strain himself more. Hopefully he won't get worse like last time..

I'll keep up work best I can and he'll do the best he can as well but sadly his current posture while working won't do much good for his sciatica and cause a lot of pain right now. :/

We'll figure a way to change that, I'll stack up on ibuprofen for now, his legs are propped up and I'll likely experiment with compressions too if he worsens. Lots of love as always and little treats to keep him happy.

Any little tips are welcome from anyone who has their back screwed up as well; treatment, exercise, etc. Whatever helps short or long term to make things easier for my silly moose.

Thank you for your time, take care of your health and have a good one! ;3;

UPDATE:

He's still in bed, woohoo! I'll be outlining wing its on his cintiq to further prevent him from not resting his back. B3c

Bleh.  My worst sciatica flare up, I literally had to flop around like a dying fish trying to find a new position that didn't hurt every 45 minutes.  I'm still upset that I didn't eat for two days and still didn't lose any weight

Poor Mop! D: I told him to get rest, silly boy. Please help him get better fast, Fuf. <3 Also, for that pinched nerve he should alternate between cold and heat. Cold to numb the area and reduce swelling, then heat to relax. No more than 10-20 minutes each. Bed rest as much as possible with NSAIDs (Ibuprofen or Excedrin) for pain management. Make. Him. Rest.

Have you tried a TENS unit yet? They're pretty good for sore nerves. I know I'm going through minor lower back pain recently, so I feel your pain.

As much as it sucks, don't rest too much as it makes the conditions worse.  Use heat and see about getting an ir heat massager.

Start up a practice of stretches as that will keep things from binding up.  There are stretches that specifically target sciatica and hip deflection issues.  Look up piriformis and quadratus lumborum muscle stretches as well.  I've had two major spinal surgeries and want everyone to try other treatments and only have surgery as the extreme last option.  Once they cut on you, it will never be the same.

As much as I love art, health comes first.  I still haven't seen a reply to the last email I sent, I'll wait on you for that unless you flat out say you don't want to do it.

Oh no, I hope he rests and recovers, that stuff is no fun! When I strained/micro-tore half or more of my back/torso muscles due to extreme emetic contractions caused by food-poisoning (almost passed out because the contractions forced the air from my lungs each time), I tried to tough it out by taking over-the-counter pain relievers but they didn't even touch it, so finally my mom drove me to the hospital and they treated me with a muscle-relaxant injection. I spent three days there because I had worrying traces of a marker for heart stress, and one for liver stress, but both turned out to be nothing and were probably just from the ordeal I went through with the food poisoning. Not sure if relaxants would be good for a pinched nerve or not. I've also seen the chiropractor many times over the years to correct what my bad posture and sitting too much have done to me, and that might help your hubby.
Anyhow, hope you both get through this and get back to a reasonably healthy state soon!

I have found the best thing for my lower back pain is a back support belt. One of its benefits is that it keeps the muscles warm.
I also use a  belt massager. Google eskasizer if you want to see what I'm talking about. I find it really good for my neck and shoulders.
Nowadays you can get a TENS unit in the drugstore without a prescription.
