Why I got fired....again.

Okay I will just make this brief and sum it up for you guys.

Yeah I'm stressed to a new maximum: This is the 3rd job I've lost in the last 11 months. Once again not by any direct fault of my own.

First job: Office politics. Weren't a fan of me trying to get promoted.

Second job: Got insanely sick and the job doesn't do sick days.

Third Job:

Well that was yesterday afternoon. There isn't much to say because I wasn't there but for 20 days.

The job that I took was mostly just being told what to do and how to do it verbally. From there I would transcribe onto paper, and then type it up so I always had a guide right in front of me. I started on December 17th. Got fired January 18th.

Once I got started, things were okay. I had a lot to learn and sadly there was no direct or formal training. No practice runs. No training materials or papers. Everything I learned I learned from verbal instructions that I did my best to write down. Everything I did, I had to basically learn as I want, asking questions if I didn't know something.

Ultimately, though, because of some mistakes that I did make while coming up, I lost the company money, and the president of the conglomeration of companies I work for felt I just wasn't a good fit.

After 20 days on the job. And just terminated me on the spot. Neither my boss, nor my CEO were expecting it, and I honestly don't think they were ready either. My CEO got wind beforehand, as did the president of my company. But I don't think my boss knew at all this was going to happen. But it happened and noone could stop it.

I mean I have them as references and they are ready to hire me back if they expand.

But what were they expecting when there's no formal training or anything and I show up there, mostly working 3-4 day weeks because of holidays?

Man....Grown-ups are just so absurdly stupid to me.

Sorry to hear you lost your job, it sucks. In the past ten years I have been fired from 5 jobs and quit 3 jobs. Out here though, usually the company doesn't have to give any reason for firing you within the first 30-90 days as that is a probationary period.

I do agree that every company should be offering training for the first few days or so, otherwise it isn't really your fault for making mistakes. You are only human of course. My job that I am right now, I had a bit of training the first day and then the second day the guy didn't show up for work so I had to figure everything out on my own.

They don't care if you don't get formal training. You either hit the ground running or they toss you under the bus in the middle of rush hour traffic.

Your boss and CEO failed to stick up for you, in this case. As Kemix said, yes, some idiotic number crunchers will expect you to hit the ground running, but those who work directly with you will understand more reasonably what that has to mean, and can identify issues that prevented you from doing well. Issues that will survive your employment.

Your CEO may have made a huge mistake not contesting your firing. Sounds like he's a sacrificial lamb himself.

Hardly a 'welcome to the grown up world', that's just a dick way to phrase it.

More like getting dicked over, he didn't even get a warning.

He was fired without warning? Wow... department of labor would adore dealing with that company.

I agree but Mav doesn't want to burn any bridges so I don't think he's going to do anything about it ~.~ He's a good person to a fault.

You should have zero issue applying to draw unemployment. It might not be much but every little bit helps... sorry you've been done so shitty bro...
