Writer's Log #5: An Important Question

Heya Tasties!

Proofing the final story in the bundle is going swimmingly. There's a reason I saved this one for last, after all. And I thought since we're approaching the big moment, I would ask about a rather important detail to this bundle:

How would you guys like to read it? More specifically, in what format would you like to read it? Individual .doc files for each story? One big .pdf with a table of contents? Do I market directly at the people still using WordPerfect and put it out as a .wpd file? (These are not your only options, by the by, feel free to name whatever you'd prefer)

This may seem trivial, but it's kind of a problem if I put out this bundle and most of my readers can't actually, you know, read it. So let me know what file format you'd like to see the story in, and I will see if I can accommodate the most popular answers. :-)

'til then, I'll keep trucking away at Inheritance, getting it all shiny and nice and ready to be enjoyed. n_n

I'm always partial to .epub, since I do most of my reading away from my computer, on a tablet. Individually, or as an anthology, either works.

PDF is a good fallback especially on desktops and laptops because you can tightly control how it's presented.

But EPUB or MOBI should ideally be available too as between them, those two formats will cover most eReaders

PLEASE don't use DOC files. Even Microsoft would rather you didn't - it stopped being the default for Word over a decade ago! You have no control over how it will appear on the end-user's display, and there's dozens of different versions so you can't even guarantee if it'll work correctly on anything third-party like Linux or Google Drive.

I'd personally prefer EPUB files; unlike PDFs, I can control the font size and spacing on the reader app on my tablet. I'd think it'd be possible to generate multiple versions without too much effort, tho, if other formats are important to you.
