Help a Guy out.

Okay, I don't intend to do this very often, but I'm putting a call out for help for someone who's in pretty dire straits right now.

Many of you probably recognize
CashewLou
CashewLou
. His Yukon Connection site was a LOT of peoples' first exposure and introduction to Furry years ago. Lou's been struggling for some time now, and like many people lately, he's been getting more than his share of hard luck. Recently, when it seemed like things had finally turned around, the rug was pulled out from under him and he's now stuck looking for work again. In the meantime though, he's on a very strict lease, and if he can't make his rent on time, he's going to be evicted but still held to a year's worth of rent. He doesn't want to ask for more help from people, so this is me asking for him because he can't really stop me. :P

Now I need to be VERY clear here. Yes, I'm aware that every so often the fandom gets someone who takes advantage of the goodwill of others or tries to pull some kind of scam. This is not the case. Lou's a good guy and has been around for longer than I have and has a good reputation with the community. I trust him, and am personally vouching for him.

Another very important point I have to make: The LAST thing Lou would want would be for anybody to put themselves in a tight spot for his sake, so I want to be very clear that I am ONLY asking for people to donate what they can spare. I know from personal experience that sometimes people get too eager to help and end up tripping themselves up trying to help someone else. Lou's dealing with enough stress over everything as it is, I don't want him feeling guilty about anybody skipping their own needs to try and help him out.

That said; if there's anybody out there who does have a bit of excess right now, we're needing to come up with as much as we can as fast as we can to try and give Lou another month to land work. I'm not asking for loans though. I'm trying to lessen his burden, not add more to it. If you (or anybody you might know) are doing pretty okay for yourself right now and want to help out (and have peace of mind that it's going to someone who does really need it and will appreciate it enormously), then please email me at poorwolfy at gmail, with "cashew lou" in the subject, and I'll respond with payment information.

Holy shit!
Cashew Lou's on the skids as well. He was a furry community celeb when I first got into the fandom over ten years ago.
Fuck...
I gotta see what I can do...somewhere...

Oh.
And speaking as someone in property management, that sounds like a dick of a lease...

Was about to say the same about that :|  Should probably be unlawful to do such a thing.

Any leases I've had contained some terms about the renter being responsible for the full term's rent, even if they leave early. I've been in some tight situations, and USUALLY people are willing to work with someone who needs to leave a lease early, but in general, the point of an extended lease (from the owner perspective) is to ensure that they get their money. Nicer places tend to be harder to get into >because< they're more strict about stuff like this.

The most I've ever seen required around here in the "balance rent" clause is a quarter-year calendar, either minus current month or plus. I've even seen leases where you surrender your security deposit towards whatever balanced owed.
But markets and their rules are different everywhere, as are the legalities under which they operate. Eviction, for example, in my market can be very difficult to execute, with all the appeals and whatnot written into the local laws.

Here it's usually 2 months worth of rent you ask for as a deposit (can be more, can be less).  Depending on how the person renting behaved with your belongings, he/she may not see the deposit back at all — but typically they get it back.

Then again, from what I experienced here, it's common practice that every party involved must tell the other in advance of 30 days that the things have to come to an end.  This should allow everyone enough time to prepare and all.

I'll be doing them a lot more frequently for a while. I need to catch back up for the past month off before I can go back to business as usual with full stream sessions. I miss you too. ^________^

If you raise some monies for him tomorrow, let me know, I'll give you his info to pass it along to him. :3
