Are pin-up girls out of date in furry fandom?

This is something I just started to notice, but I no longer see many artists drawing standard nude pin-ups of females.
In the 90's you would often see lots of Lola Bunnies or Babs Bunnies as the standard nude furry character.

At conventions I started drawing my own Phantom Bunny topless or nude and she seemed to fit in as the standard furry character. As this decade comes to a close, I see more interest in my pin-up girls as herm characters, or if I draw them as standard females with a male character, it is the male character and the state of his penis getting more of the interest.

I'm thinking that the more standard pin-up style girls should become secondary to the male characters and the herms in my pin-ups and future strips.

That's good to know. I think I will move away from the pin-ups.

theres different things that appeal to different people. having said that, it is more interesting to see someone doing something, anything then just posing.whether that be clean activities or sexual ones. Its why adult art is a default I go to when I dont have specific ideas for a commission. Naked bodies are more interesting  then clothed ones doing nothing in particular. but if the characters are doing something interesting or wearing interesting clothes or set in an interesting setting ,then you dont need sex or nudity to make things interesting.

Yes, I think you are right. Keeping the characters in action in a story setting might be best.
But I think my characters are more popular when they're nude.

well really you should do what youd like to do the most. Unless its a commission of course

That's true. I do enjoy drawing the girls, but drawing the naked guys is also fun and adds additional interest.

I love pinups. I guess they are not as popular as they used to be, but I still see them around.

As for the abundance of futa characters, my personal theory is that it's because a penis is easier to draw than a vagina, at least for guys.

I think the Futas are popular because they can replace the males in a scene.
I'm thinking about just replacing the Futas with males as my primary characters. I'm just used to making Bonnie Bunny the central character because the pinup girls were so popular in the past, and when I joined the fandom, not as many people were drawing nude males.
Even though I started the strip in 1979, I didn't start drawing Bullet Crow with a penis until 2009.
Now, everybody seems fine with Bullet Crow's nudity and other male characters in the strip seem to be getting more popular than Bonnie. So, I may start pushing the male characters a little more than I have in the past.
The girls will get their vaginas back (with some Futa variants) and we'll start seeing more of the boys.
