Today I tried opening a 36mb PSD file in SAI. I waited patiently, then the 'waiting' indicator vanished, the screen froze, and my mouse wouldn't move for like 3 minutes. I CTRL+ALT+Deleted that bastard, then noticed SAI was using like 2.5gb of memory (i only have 4gb). So I killed it and my computer was normal again. Then I tried opening the SAME FILE in Photoshop. It took about 10 seconds and didn't produce any errors at all. It also only used about 1.5gb of memory.
I also can't export anything as jpg or png in SAI...sometimes. All these bugs seriously makes me wanna go back to Photoshop again, at least for painting. SAI still rocks hard in the drawing and sketching department though.
Maybe I can tweak PS enough to work like SAI though. I already got an autothokey script that let's me resize the brush by holding "A" and dragging horizontally. Still feels a little clunky though compared to the way SAI works, but I freaking adore the feature of holding "Z" to zoom in and out dynamically, and "R" to rotate the canvas. I was also able to remap those keys to "Q" for rotation and "W" for zoom ;) Now I just need to make a decent "hider" script for PS's pallets, and later maybe a color wheel extension that's better than what's currently out there.
