Watching the new She-Ra too. I loved it from the beginning of the first episode. What is it with reviewers saying the humor doesn't work? It's awesome and funny and ridiculous in places. That said, I never gave half a crap about He-Man or She-Ra back in the 80s and never watched the original at all so I'm totally not invested in it doing the original justice. Thundercats were more interesting to me back then but that reboot went straight to Xibalba. This one is pretty awesome. The animation looks a bit crappy and could use some help but considering the source it's not bad at all.
Some observations... The anthros are way too human looking for me, including Catra. She has butt tail sometimes too. Fire ships were a real naval combat strategy in the age of sail. Ask Philip II of Spain. Compared to the Sabrina reboot It's much more awesome and I feel less conflicted about it.
I like the original more. All characters a kids now. No real role models like back then. How would they try to sell their toys? They try to sell it to the boys or to the girls? Back then the She-Ra toys were for girls. The Horde got put to the He-Man toyline, while they were actually part of the She-Ra storyline. Also understandable, since no girl back then would buy a creepy looking evil monster to play with.

The main protagonists being younger women (except the really cute Bow) who are dealing with bad parental relationships or taking over for an older generation who have retired, like Mermista, fits the time better I think. In this generation Skipper isn't Barbie's tagalong little sister, she's the protagonist.

also i loved the She-Ra reboot it is as you say the animation was a bit off and Catra was also pretty cute very original/the anime reboot style thundercat like, but i gotta say one thing that grabbed me from the get go was OMG the THIGHS!!!! its like every princess in that show could crack a coconut open between their legs O.o
i like me some THICC THIGHS but this made my head go kerblam
still its a good beginning i hope they improve the quality of the show and even include HE-MAN in it at some point

I didn't really notice that. The characters kind of don't do it for me really. Maybe some of the deer people. So I guess I'm watching it for the characters? That's kind of funny considering I do find the characters in a lot of 'kids' shows attractive. Just not the super humanlike ones. It'd be nice to see more of Swiftwind in the show for one...
Not sure what kind of licensing they have for He-Man and the characters from that show. It doesn't seem like the kind of show that kids would want to watch right now. Not to say a crossover plot wouldn't work. It could be fun.

one of the reasons i mostly play female Charr's the plant people and the Asura race they made resembling stitch from lilo and stitch in GW2 i think i have like 1 hooman in that game out of the 26 characters i have and only made him because i was in a guild that had a costume competition and i made a male hooman into The Shredder from TMNT lol

They want the exaggerated, porn starish, proportions of action figures rather than something closer to realistic ones. That they expect "boobplate" armour and aren't getting it only makes things worse.

I do believe you're right. Not every show and every character should look like that. I don't even find it attractive myself. But I'm a weird furry who finds feral big cats and equines much more attractive than skinny humans with big boobs. Not that there's anything wrong with big boobs. Especially if there are more than two of them...
Reading about the original show, since I never paid any attention then, I guess the toys were made with common bodies with recolors and re-haired variants for different characters. Don't be too cheap now! It sounds so boring.
