November Update

It's that time of the year again. Turkey, diviseness, parades, and the inevitable black friday stampedes are on the horizon. As it appears commonplace for my family and I, we'll be out of town visiting relatives. As always, I'll share my thoughts on what has been going on this month so far.

Yay Politics and Other BS

It looks like the fires aren't stopping in California any time soon. And neither are Donald's short sighted tweets. How is raking the forest floor going to stop climate change? Another depressing thing to happen this month was the death of Stan Lee.  This will definitely be one of the saddest celebrity deaths to occur this year. In not so depressing news, the new democratic representatives have been making waves ever since they won the mid term elections. Ironically, faux noise is doing a good job making campaign slogans for the Democrats. Another bit of hilarity is the fact that Ryan Reynolds will be playing the role of detective pikachu in the upcoming movie. And boy are the memes glorious.

South Park thoughts

A little note about these "reviews" of the south park episodes. I usually write them just after seeing the episode. I also write what I think of the episode at face value for the most part. So that means I'm not exactly thinking of the symbolism until after the fact. Then again, perhaps it's better that I don't engage in "everyone is jesus in purgatory".

So in the episode "Time To Get Cereal", we get even more throwbacks to previous seasons. At the same time, this episode is obviously trying to show south park is still relevant, damn it. Seriously, even satan is playing the damn game. Btw, satan reappears along with al gore. And apparently grandpa marsh is responsible for summoning the demonic amalgamation known as man-bear-pig. If you're not familiar with the continuity of south park, this would sound pretty nonsensical. To summarize, south park had an episode with al gore in it and MBP was used as a symbol for global warming. As the old episode put it, no one "took him cereal" and the new episode shows the consequences of not heeding the warning.

In the episode "Nobody Got Cereal?", the story of MBP continues. Also, they are still talking about RDR2. While Al Gore and Satan appear again in this episode, there has been no sign of towelie. Besides the characters returning for another round, the episode also points out how people can still deny climate change in the face of overwhelming evidence. Seriously, another demon attack with surviving witnesses is dismissed as another shooting. Besides straight up denial, the episode pokes fun at worrying about something until it's too late.  Something I didn't quite expect this episode to do was kill off Satan. But I guess that doesn't matter since the resolution was to make another deal with this demon and expect the people to give up certain things in the deal.

'Member the thing I said about topping the nuking of Canada in season 21? I think taking a page out of Doom's book makes for a close second. If we accept that MBP is an allegory for global warming, what do we make of that being able to over power Satan? Now that there are 3 episodes left of the season, we'll see what else can surpass what's happened so far. I may not be able to see the 8th episode on the day it airs since I'll be away for Native American genocide day. But if Thanksgiving week happens to be another dark week, I may be lucky.

School, Life, etc.

Now that I've been in class for about half a "quarter" or however it works at FSCJ, I'll say the class has been alright. It still has that made up on the spot element to it and it was only in the 3rd week that stuff was added on blackboard. Now that assignments have been added, I got to have some more hands on practice with AutoDesk inventor. Getting in the swing of using the program is odd. Especially when the programs I frequently use are Adobe programs. I definitely have some ways to go before I even come close to mastering Inventor. One thing's for sure, I'm always looking for ways to complete projects faster.

Outside of school, I've been doing bag designs. Of course not only am I putting the designs together, I am now ordering the completed designs. Just two weeks ago, I did 14 full sets of bags and ordered them all. Usually the amount of orders a day will be one or two. Outside of school and bag orders, I've been collecting "lego" pokemon sets and assembling them. Ever since I got one set as a present, the collectathon has continued since.

Conclusion

With all things considered, I'd say there is one phrase to describe this month so far; "You win some, you lose some." For those who observe this Turkey day, how do you plan on celebrating? If you don't observe it, what do you do on this Thursday instead? Will you risk your life on Black Friday or will you do your shopping from the comfort of home? All these questions and more to be answered in the next episode of Dragon Ball Super.
