They're kind of pointless now that there's furry, wouldn't you say?
I'm still exploring the idea of going on a 'furry hiatus' and as a result I have considered resorting to putting ears and tails on humans just like in the good ol' japanese pics I'm still obsessed with. But it occurred to me that it would be really be a compromise --that by putting ears/tails on humans I'd be 'wanting' them to be furry but arbitrarily holding back, and settling on character designs that are neither this nor that.
That said there is another in-between worth exploring-- Examples include satyrs, and Katt from Breath of Fire. In other words, human from the waist up and furry from the waist down. I always felt this as being totally different from furry and catgirl, and in its own way better than both. (Do you agree?) Technically the furry half defeats the purpose of a 'furry hiatus' (since the legs still involve animal anatomy) but I could avoid that by exploring TF themes where the legs are still are primarily human and have 5 toes. (which makes sense, in the sense that I honestly don't see why a toe would fall off or regress, and because it would explain why they are half-and-half. And because TF is very exciting, whereas being born like that would be a bit boring, and perhaps a wasted opportunity.)
So I pose this question. Can a catgirl/neko have its own unique charm in a way that justifies it being not furry, but not human either? How so? And do you know of any pics which you feel exemplify this?
