October Update (3spoopy5me)

I may be late in posting this in the eastern hemisphere but hopefully I've made it before the month is officially over. Where do I even begin with this month? I say there is definitely some depressing news to look forward to.

Yay, Politics
While shootings have been quite the rage for a while, I couldn't have possibly been prepared to hear of someone sending out bombs to political opponents. Even though none of them went off, it still shows just how problematic domestic terrorism still is. And I think it goes without saying what I think of the false flag accusations.

Another notable thing that happened this month was the "invasion" of immigrants that happened. I guess escaping the cartel that the US helped create counts with no armaments to speak of counts as an invasion now. Seriously, name a time where an invasion occurred where every single invader was completely unarmed. Of course this story about the caravan wouldn't be complete without at least one MAGA cultist suggesting needless violence towards them.

Another disheartening thing that occurred this month was a move that seeks to erase the existence of transgender and other non-binary people. Whether it's malicious intent, sheer stupidity, or some convoluted 3rd option, it's pretty short sighted to redefine gender with a more strict definition. Considering the other attempts at rolling back protections, I really have to wonder if they realize what would happen to the people who already made the transition if they redefine gender based on how the person was born.

With the mid term elections coming up, the most important thing we can do is vote. As straight forward as that sounds, the dominant force really likes to set up road blocks for minority voters. Seriously, at least 3 states have some form of voter suppression in effect. Hopefully Florida doesn't try anything like that. Considering the numerous attack ads and amendments that bundle unrelated items for no good reason, the last thing Florida needs is suppressing votes. It really is unfortunate that even if the democratic candidate has a good message, they might still lose because the opponent refuses to play fair.

As for outside of the states, it looks like Brazil is on their way to welcoming fascism. I guess the US isn't the only country willing to elect someone so unfit to serve in office. If I were to try and unpack everything about Jair Bolsanaro, I'd be filling multiple journals. What does concern me the most about this is the fate of the rainforest. If his comments are anything to go by, it's safe to say Earth-chan is going to have her lungs ripped out completely.

Random Life Stuff
With that said, let's move on to something slightly less depressing. While I'm not the most active member of any particular fandom, I did get to have my OC placed in a recent bit of fanwork this month. The piece in question is a video named "MLP Season 8 In A Nutshell: Ep 25 School Raze". It was a small part but it was a pleasant surprise my OC made it. And speaking of MLP season 8, I must say the Xmas episode was pretty cool. And apparently reindeer are canon now. As for my life outside of this site, I've finally started my next semester after a huge delay. So the 1st day of the new semester has been more eventful than I thought it would be. To start, the person who drove ne to the campus ran into complications. It seemed like smooth sailing until we were on the interstate. Rather than stay North, they took the South path. When the driver went back to get on the interstate, they still took the south path. After more back tracking, my driver had to be given directions in a phone call. If it weren't for them arriving at 1:45 PM, I might have been late for my 1st class.

As for the class itself, it was pretty much what I expected for the 1st day. Much like the previous class, I'm going to be delving into a different Autodesk program for the class. From what I saw in the class, the teacher appears to know what he is talking about. What did strike me as odd was that there wasn't a syllabus already available and that the class wasn't active on blackboard. As for course material, I don't think it was decided which book would be used for the class.
As for the drive home, it was going well until we got rear ended. While the truck was fine, the person who rear ended us got a square shaped dent on the front of their car. Thankfully no one was hurt.

So on the 2nd day of class, we got to build an object in the software. Just from this 1st exercise I can tell Inventor was a different beast from AutoCAD. As for the class structure, I have a feeling this class will follow the structure of making it up as we go along. At least I didn't get out of class work for the 1st week.

How about that South Park?
Within this month, there were 4 south park episodes. The episode "a boy and a priest" did feel kind of weak in comparison to the school shooting episode. Once the novelty of pedo priest jokes wears off, the episode doesn't leave much to unpack that hasn't been unpacked before. The continuity nod to "red hot catholic love" was a nice touch though. And I guess there is something to taking the church covering up their crimes to an absurdly logical conclusion.

The episode "problem with a poo" was pretty hilarious. Seeing Mr hankey return and be moved to Springfield at the end was a pretty over the top way of writing a character out. Especially when they invoke Roseanne and Brett Kavanaugh at the same time. The PC principal and Vice Principal strong woman story arc was a neat bonus too. I dunno about any of you but I found the PC babies to be hilarious.

And because one episode bringing an old character back wasn't enough, "tegridy farms" was a neat way to bring towelie back. While I find the inclusion of vaping forced, I still liked Randy's badass feats. Though it is ironic for Randy to be overreacting in this episode considering the opening episode for season 22.

The Halloween episode of this year is a strange one. Maybe not as strange as previous ones but it is close. I'm not entirely sure why they chose scooters as the "monster" though. Also, while I've not seen many instances of Mr Mackey used a main character in the show, his role here was definitely utilized well. There are quite a few sight gags to see for sure. Though the one that really stood out was the south park sign with a turd on it with the word "cancelled" scrawled into it.

This new season has been quite a ride. For each new episode coming out, I see quite a bit of aging. For a show that had once poked fun at family guy for nonsensical cutaways, they sure do like to throw stuff at the walls to see what sticks for premises. They also appear to be going back on their promise of ditching serialization. I do hope the 2nd half of the new season surpasses the 1st though. As for topping previous seasons, I find it pretty difficult to top nuking Canada.

Conclusion
This is definitely not everything I want to say. I didn't really have any kind of Halloween celebration either. Unless watching TV specials counts as celebrating it. As always, feel free to add in your own input. And let me know if someone has made any images of Earth Chan based on recent developments.  Let me know if your halloween was more or less pathetic than mine. In all seriousness, thanks for viewing this journal.
