I know some of my watchers like M.E.R.C. from Miles from Tomorrowland. If you don't or don't want to see an adorably squeaky toy being finger molested just pass this journal by.
Look what I found! There's a Maximum Miles toy too but, feh. The talking 'Maximum M.E.R.C.' from Tomy has eight squeaky voice clips and one of them includes an adorable wolf whistle. I may remove the blue saddle parts from his back because they look stupid and I'll probably never get a Miles figure to ride him anyway.
I took him apart and ditched the saddle parts and discovered that he's a well designed and very solid toy. His body halves are held together by by five screws and he came apart and back together very easily with not one loose spring. His button has a rubbery switch underneath instead of a cheap microswitch with return springs, which I was expecting. Just the fact that he's entirely held together by screws instead of snapped or glued is great.
I may fill in the gaps in his back with Milliput or something.
Weirdly, his CE notice is printed in curved lines of writing on the back side of his tail 'leaves' instead of under the body, which is a design decision I really like. Tomy has people doing good work.
