A bit late to the party, but I’ve decided to reveal the characters that I, personally, would like to see in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and why.
• SPRING MAN •
The only character I’m wholeheartedly expecting to appear. Of all the new IPs Nintendo has introduced since the launch of the Switch, ARMS is undoubtedly the most popular and successful. Therefore, I think it would be a travesty if Ultimate didn’t include some sort of reference to that game. And if Nintendo did include an ARMS character, they would likely default to Spring Man since he’s the central character. (They might even include Springtron as an alternate palette, or even an Echo Fighter.)
• ZERAORA •
Each new Smash game has featured a new playable Pokémon character from the most recent generation as a cross-promotion; a trend we’re all expecting to continue in Ultimate. Everyone seems to be expecting one of the starters – either Decidueye or Incineroar – But I think the electric tiger would be a much more awesome addition. Besides, if a Legendary Pokémon like Mewtwo can be a playable character, why can’t a Mythical Pokémon like Zeraora?
• BRAIXEN •
And if everyone insists on having another playable Fire-type in Ultimate, why not the ever-lovable Braixen? She’d make a perfect Echo Fighter for Lucario, having a nearly identical body type. Also, she could have her Blaze ability, which could make her fire attacks more powerful as she takes damage, emulating Lucario’s gimmick.
• AKUMA •
One of the most championed characters for Ultimate is Ken from Street Fighter as an Echo for Ryu. While I understand the mindset behind this, I honestly feel that Mr. Satsui no Hadou would make for a better Echo, as his special move set is more similar to Ryu’s than Ken’s. Instead of Focus Attack, his Down Special could be Ashura Senkuu (his teleport), and his Final Smash would of course be Shungokusatsu.
• MEDUSA •
Pit has Dark Pit as an Echo, so why not bring in Palutena’s evil counterpart as her Echo? Besides, I still want to see more villains in Smash.
• JIBANYAN •
For some reason, I have this feeling that the Yo-Kai Watch mascot might somehow make it into Ultimate as a playable character. Maybe it’s the fact that all of Level-5’s Yo-Kai Watch games on 3DS have been published by Nintendo globally...
