AU:
Near the conclusion of the Zander saga.
Chad stands before Zander in the woods, Desert Eagle aimed. at the maimed wretch in the wheelchair. Zhi has found a 2nd use for his cane: immobilizing the only way Zander could get around.
"What're you waiting for , son?"
Chad's face twitches with conflcting emotions. Slowly he - lowers the gun. He stands regarding his old foe... pregnant pause. A bird chirps in the distance.... whatever emotions Zander feels, he didn't have enough of a face to express them...
Finally Chad speaks...
"He's - paid in full, dad..."
"What are you saying, son ??"
" Whatever crimes against cubs he's committed, he paid the price. Look at him". Chad notices the discarded pad and writes on it. He paws the pad with what he wrote, and Zander takes it and reads it. "You are spared.- but not forgiven" He then paws the pawgun to his father.
"We can't just -leave him here, Chad."
"We can take him to the police station. I have a hunch, I'm SURE somebody's looking for him. ..."
"Son , I'm NOT putting HIM in the car with us. I'd abandon, junk, sell the car before I allow him in it. You heard the old urban legend. Car for sale for 100 lbs.. Catch is: a suicide lay in it for a year. and nothing could get the STINK out ! This joe ain't dead, but his very existence stinks on ice, as it is !"
"We don't have to do that. We got a cable in the trunk.".
To get to the skinny, they tied Zander's wheelchair to the rear bumper with the cable, and towed him to the police station, slowly. Every 20-30 ft , Chad would shout to any passerbys about Zander's crimes. Zhi pondered discarding the cable afterwards, but finally decided that it only handled the wheelchair.
The police were very glad to have Zander delivered to them. "He was thrown out of the nursing home and arrangements were made to house him in the Institution, as soon as an opening existed. Meanwhile, he stays with us !" To explain everything would take time.
This way, Zander falls into the hands of Dr.Fernando, but no mysterious Traveler is involved.
