You know how in pokemon you only get one master ball, and you hold that thing forever just in case? I was thinking eventually I'd stumble across a shiny pokemon or something, but I had a real anime moment playing the game today. I had already beaten all the main quests and story elements in Moon so I'm doing other stuff like filling up the pokedex and raising my favorite monsters up to lv 50 and stuff, and in this instance I was raising my eevee evolutions, doing it properly taking them around the islands in order because I do that...Well I was just playing around Ten Carat Hill leveling up Mipha (my vaporeon) when all of a sudden the random encounter isn't a simple rock type in the teen levels but GOD DAMN NECROZOMA! The strongest member of my team was Static, a level 20 Jolteon, and all of a sudden I'm facing down a level 75 monster from beyond time and space. I tried flinging a beast ball at it but of course it broke out because it wasn't weakened, and it blasted poor Mipha with a prismatic beam! The little dear toughed it out with 1 HP so I wouldn't feel sad, but I panicked and tried to throw another beast ball that it broke, then it knocked her out with another attack. I was afraid that I'd get a game over from an unexpected wild encounter when I remembered that I still had the master ball, which I had resisted using for all 4 of the island guardians and every preceding ultra beast, so I quickly opened that pokeball pocket, threw the master ball, and saved the rest of my Eons. I feel bad that I forgot about it because if I remembered one turn sooner I could have saved Mipha and she wouldn't have gone the way of her namesake.
