I'd rather be something like a chipmunk myself. Or maybe a squirrel, an otter, or a kangaroo or a badger. Of course it would also be a plus if I get some of the usual furry personification mixed in, but not too anthro. Alvin and the Chipmunks is a great example. The perfect mix of human traits and feral adorableness.

We are already biologically apes, and more specifically "great apes". Not really monkeys but very close relatives! Monkeys are pretty much like apes, just stupider. Monkeys and apes belong to primates and, more specifically, simians. It is unfortunate that we no longer have tails.
