Yeah, I've decided to post a little bit of random comic book trivia every so often, just to keep myself amused. So, let's start off with one of the most fun ones I know:
Elvis Presley was actually an ENORMOUS, RAGING comic book geek of the highest order. So much so, that he decided to model his entire stage appearance off of his favorite comic book hero.
Can you guess who that was?

.........
Okay, all guesses are in! Here's the answer....
Elvis was a huge fan of Freddy Freeman, AKA Captain Marvel Jr. Freddy Freeman was a friend of Billy Batson, the original Captain Marvel. However, when Freeman was mortally injured in a battle with the evil Captain Nazi (there's a superhero for the alt-right, if ever there was one), Billy saved his life by sharing the power of Shazam with him.
Whenever Freeman shouts the name "Captain Marvel" he is transformed into Captain Marvel Jr., with the wisdom of Solomon, the strength of Hercules, the stamina of Atlas, the power of Zeus, the courage of Achilles, and the speed of Mercury. Despite being permanently crippled by the fight with Captain Nazi, Freeman became a hero in his own right, even outside of the shadow of Billy Batson.
In the modern era, before the end of the Post-Crisis universe and the start of the Nu52, Freeman even graduated to become the new Captain Marvel in Billy's place.
Since Elvis as far as to base his entire look off Captain Marvel Jr, Fawcett Comics (and later on, DC Comics) made Freddy Freeman the biggest Elvis fan in the entire comic genre.
Just goes to show how influential superhero comics have been on our culture, even beyond the current superhero movie trend!
