So, I suppose I should explain the title.
Like most Americans, I had to take out extensive loans to pay for college. As such, we worked with a company called Ameritech Financial to begin paying for them. They worked out a payment plan, and for a year, I paid around 245 dollars a month, which then dropped to 99 dollars a month. Considering I barely make above minimum wage, this is a SUBSTANTIAL part of my paycheck. I paid diligently for years now.
Cut to yesterday, when the FUCKING FEDERAL GOVERNMENT sends us a letter saying that Ameritech Financial has been defrauding us the entire time (Their words, not mine!) and the Federal Trade Commission is suing the shit out of them. Turns out I haven't been paying for my student loans. They've been taking my money under the pretense of paying for my loans, and instead providing "educational resources for paying back your loan..."
...That the government provides for FREE.
I have lost several THOUSAND dollars, and I haven't paid a single dime on my student loans. So not only am I out significant amounts of money... but I'm still around 50,000 dollars in debt.
Fuck. My. Life. And fuck every single person who works for Ameritech Financial, from the CEO down to the fucking janitor. You all are rat bastards.
We're seeking legal representation and looking for options, but this is bad on so many levels that I have lost count. I've barely been able to think from the sheer state of panic I've been in. My only hopes are that A: Ameritech refunds every goddamn dime I've ever paid them, B: The FTC pays me back, C: The FTC forgives my debt for at least the amount I've paid to Ameritech, or D: we can sue the shit out of this company and get back my money and MORE for damages.
Seriously. Fuck these people. Fuck them in the SOUL. And if you use Ameritech, please, seek legal representation!
