The thing is, the original show kinda had a more...liberal tone to it. It was LGB friendly (Some of the characters where gay) and was VERY against physical punishment. Rosanne seems to have a political shift recently so she really isn't in her old "mind set"

Part of the problem is America has gotten to Politically Correct in that anything that offends should be decapitated from the shoulders and its flesh burned to ashed. But the other part is allowing such vulgar comedy into the public circle. I know what she said, and it is wrong for her to say that but it is something she probably picked up in some private party somewhere and thinking that she is a vulgar comedian that she could post it publicly and everyone would get a good laugh.
Everyone's laughing alright. Laughing at the consequences she is going through. Saying that she deserves it. Saying that she deserves more. Wrong!
She deserves to be punished, that true, but not at the expense of a lot of people - The Actors, TV Media Crews, Production Managers, The Scriptwriters, and anyone else who worked on her show are also fired. Though many will find other jobs to fill the niche, none will find level of money they were getting with Roseanne's show. That show was getting WABC $13.5M per episode on revenues it was getting on commercials alone! And that is after the Show's producer got their share to pay the staff from them down to the actors.
Secondly, I'm a Pro-Second Amendment for many reasons, which the abusers of the First Amendment love to deny - It is the Second Amendment that supports the First! What does that have to do with anything? A lot. A lot because this is a First Amendment issue.
Under the First Amendment, Roseanne has the right to post up whatever she wants to say, how ever she wants to say, where and when ever she wants to say it, whether she is right or wrong in saying it. It does not matter what she says, as long as she says. And it is her right to do so under the First Amendment for Freedom of Speech and Expression! We may not agree with it. We do not have agree with it. We do not have to believe that she meant it as a joke. Remember, she is a comedian and a rather vulgar one. Compared to others who I shall remain as Nameless - this nothing. Black, White or Indifferent. She made a bad joke and it blew up in her face.
We deny one person to that Right, we deny everyone to that right. Period. We deny you, we deny me, we deny everyone. It is that simple. The First Amendment is not there for those in power to manipulate the media as they see fit - although it is beginning to look like that, especially with Radio, TV and Internet Media.
Roseanne needs to be punished, she needs to apologize, but to those involved - we need to forgive.

It's a damn shame that people who make it their job to be professionally offended, ruined the reboot of her show because she said some crazy shit on twitter. I was looking forward to season 2 because me and my mom watched season 1 together and we had such a good time watching it. This country is going in the wrong direction. We used to be so much more thick skinned where someones comments would just go unheeded as "ah let them say what they want. We're better than letting words get to us"
when did sticks and stones, make break my bones irrelevant? thats what happens when you pander to the weakest.
