Lately, I have been going through my New Submissions as fast as possible. I’ve been away so long that I know I have lost some due to the autoremove feature. I started with 80 pages, but I have been going at it constantly from oldest to newest in order to catch up without losing anything more.
During this process, I have stopped watching several users. I am known for being judgmental, but when I first started watching the artists I removed, I saw potential and thought that they would get better. One of those artists recently recognized that his art output was going up, but his popularity was dropping, and asked how he could get better. I delivered as much information as I could, but then he defended his flaws. This is what started my unwatching several users.
In the entire time that IB has been around, these artists have not improved. Some of them have actually gotten worse, and it boggles my mind because at least half of the ones I have unwatched really invested a lot of effort into trying to be, if not a professional then, a consistent and recognizable artist. It’s almost like a living epitaph: they did everything to become an artist except improve.
I don’t have any big insight on it, just that this is happening, and I feel like it shouldn’t.
