Computer is down

My computer is dead. I did a major overhaul on my system; motherboard, processor, memory, hard drive, the works. I get it all together, go to power it on and it immediately shuts off. I check the POST code and lo and behold, defective CPU. I COULD put the old parts back in but it would be a complete teardown and rebuild to put it back again and there's no guarantee it would work right because I don't remember the ports and slots I used in the original configuration. I don't want to risk damaging anything in the process either.

I'm computerless and it's really messing with me...

I know the feeling, I had my 1060 die on me a few months ago and it was brutal. If you need any help just let me know

I had to sell one of my computers about 6 months ago. An 8-core CPU and a GTX 1060...and this was before the skyrocket on GPU prices due to cryptocurrency mining.

You can't take the CPU back where you got it and exchange it?
