So um, here’s one of my comic book rants, and this time it’s on the one comic that made me absolutely fucking HATE the New 52. This comic, is Red Hood and The Outlaws.
In this comic series, it’s found out that Starfire doesn’t remember the names of her own friends, the members of the Teen Titans (and Roy Harper remembers this being the last time he saw her until now). Instead of trying to help her with her memory or brain damage, he instead has sex with her, practically taking advantage of her. Because for some bullshit reason, being a whore happens to be a side-effect. And I guess it’s new because Roy used to hang with her and this is the first he’s hearing of it, Starfire wanting to screw anyone around her despite not being attracted to hem.
Jason Todd in the beginning of the book tells the reader that he uses her as a sex toy, too. Neither of them seem to care care that Starfire’s brain has apparently degraded to the point where she can’t do anything aside from throwing star bolts, pose like a slut, and humping any phallic object that comes within 10 feet of her. Neither of them go ahead and contact the Justice League and see how to fix it, or contact Dick Grayson and/or the other Titan members to find out if they have any idea what caused her mental dysfunction. NOPE! They just take advantage of a mentally compromised former superheroine just to live out their perverted fantasies with Nightwing’s girlfriend.
I guess the Scot Lobdell believes that boys should never say “no” to sex even if the woman is a few changes short of a buck. Because stopping to make sure that the woman is capable of giving consent would just kill the mood.
I don’t care if Starfire’s dysfunction gets explained. I don’t care what kind of bullshit revelations the writers pulls out of their ass to justify turning a previously loving and EMOTIONAL character into a brain-dead piece of fan-service for sleazy perverts. It’s supposed to attract me, but all it did was disgust and repell me. The rapey treatment of Starfire ruined the New 52 comics for me. And the writing made it clear that this book is made for basement dwelling man-children whose idea of female “empowerment” is wearing bikinis 24/7 and having multitudes of loveless, commitment-free hookups with any loser willing to drop his pants.
It also turns out that Scot are in fact creepy even in real life. He legitimately believes Starfire being used as the Team Bicycle by her two asshole comrades is a sign of "female sexual empowerment"
YOU HEARD ME RIGHT!
He actually believes that his version of Star is the shining example of a woman owning her own body and refusing to be slut-shamed.
This is exactly why everytime I go to the library, and see this comic series on the shelves, I just want to take it and burn it so no idiot would read this piece of shit comic.
I’m surprised that ANYONE is a fan of this series because of this.
Not only has Scot single-handedly ruin Starfire, but also made my favorite anti-hero, Red Hood, into a rapist.
So fuck you Scot, FUCK, YOU
This is NOT the Starfire we want to see. When I think of Starfire, I think of the unintentionally sexy, cute, loving, and emotionally positive Tamaranian who is a member of the greatest sidekick superhero team, the Teen Titans.
Oh, and they need to stop putting their heads into their asses and make Starfire and Nightwing marry already! These two are perfect for eachother! Why would anyone want to ruin that for us?!
Don’t you fucking say that sex is just sex, because sex is supposed to be meaningful and treasured, not tossed around like t-shirts at a rock band.
And don’t tell me that I’m being a SJW, because it doesn’t hurt to give common simple decency.
I’m no prude either.
