Why I like Sonamy?

Well, when it comes to Sonamy, it's actually two things that I like and find interesting, since this is something that involves two characters.

First, there is Sonic's part, which is of a character who has an almost selfish love for the freedom he enjoys and how one day when saving a little hedgehog girl, he also stole her heart without realizing it. Amy will always chase him everywhere he goes (thus giving him something to fuel his desire to keep running) and true to his respect for freedom, Sonic can't nor will do anything to keep her from feeling affection towards him. I suspect that Sonic also fears compromising his beloved freedom, yet if he were to give Amy a chance, he might end discovering that this girl who fell in love for whom he is, would never do anything to take away his freedom, and instead, would encourage Sonic, never letting him give up on the one thing he loves the most, and maybe, Sonic would realize that his freedom would be much more enjoyable if he were to share it with someone who also longs for the same life of never ending adventures and excitement. People will say "oh, but Tails already covers that", but I'd respond by saying that while true, there is something that Tails does not add: with him, Sonic never had to fear the risk of compromising his freedom, while with Amy, this element exists, and not because of Amy, who as I already said, would actually welcome and adjust to this life style, but rather it's because of Sonic's own insecurity around this girl, and failing to see that in her lies a kindred spirit.

From Amy's point, what I like is that this is a girl with a happy, ordinary life who dared to set herself the almost impossible dream of winning Sonic's heart. Where for Sonic after CD's events, Amy was nothing more than just one more helpless victim of Eggman that he happened to rescue on a daily basis, to Amy this was something that changed her life and left a very strong impression as she developed a crush for Sonic, and not because of him being popular or a hero, but rather because of how he was kind and always willing to help those in need, even if he had to risk his life (something that Amy would later emulate, as well as top because she not only risked her own life to protect others, but if necessary, she was more than willing to sacrifice her very own happiness for the sake of Sonic's well being, like in 06 where she did not mind Elise taking Sonic's first kiss because him coming back to life was so much more important).

For Amy to become part of Sonic's life took a lot of perseversnce in order to go from a stranger to one of Sonic's closest and most (if not the most) loyal friend, one's whose judgement is not clouded by her adoration for him.

Amy is still a long way from achieving her goal, and sonetimes suffers setbacks, but she never gives up, and that, along her charismatic personality makes me want to root for her so much. XD

This is a good reason. I also really like Sonamy, and I remember when I saw Sally for the first time on Sonic SATAM, I was very angry with her. xD

Why were you angry with Sally? You do realize that she was not only here before Amy, but she and Sonic were already a couple.

I don't know why exactly. I just watched Sonic X, so I guess it was just jealousy.

Sorry, man. Good as these points are, I'll still always be a Sonally supporter. But then that's what I grew up with. I personally don't have a problem with Amy, she can be cool and badass. But Sally's still my favorite. I guess it doesn't matter now, though, seeing as SEGA has put a halt to any couples in the Sonic franchise, those jerks.

No problem. I was simply stating my reasons to liking this and maybe expose some aspects of why I find it endearing. It wasn't my intention to try and change other's likings since everyone is entitled to like whatever they want.

However, regarding the comic's decision since the "pendercalypse" and before the cancellation, I think that putting a stop on the romance thing was not just a good decision, but also a long overdue one. I don't think the Sonic franchise should be about romantic relations, let alone develop upon to the point where it creates drama that sucks out the fun of the characters. I habe my own reasons to not like Sonally, both because of how it affects Sonic, or how it changes the perception of Amy from innofensive girl with an innocent crush to "home wrecker". However, I feel that Sega stepping in wasn't as bad as even Sally's character got some benefits out of the situation such as being treated like an actual character rather than just existing for the sake of being a love interest, which is something that also annoys me when it happens to Amy, and which is a problem not just of romance, but even friendships when the most important interactions that any character can have are with Sonic, worse if Sonic is the only character they ever interact with, which is why Tails' characterizations in the last two main games turned to be crap.

Yeah, that's actually a very good point there. And while I still don't like the halt on relationships too much, I have accepted it and it really doesn't change how much I still enjoy the Sonic franchise and it's characters. I think we can both agree that Sonic has two pretty important and awesome girls in his life.

Ah, this is the kind of Sonamy shipping I adore. That gives depth, development, and likability to them, and their relationship. Much healthier than the obsessive fangirl/stalker version of her, I see in the games. And I like to see headcannons that express them in this way.
