I made a stopwatch program, for artists, that pauses automatically whenever you're not working

I made it over the last two three days, from scratch, because I realized my old stopwatch I made 4 years ago was fine sort of but it was ugly as hell and I thought hey it's been four years and I could use something a bit more polished and also I love making apps quickly so eh why not hhaha.

Anyway, basically this stopwatch is designed for artists that want to see how much time they're actually working, and for speed drawing, and timing in general I guess.

If set to do so, the timer will pause automatically whenever SAI is not in focus (Or whatever program you set it to), or whenever the mouse cursor stops moving (after a few seconds). Resumes automatically after you're back to work.

It also displays the total time, and the non-idle time; makes sounds whenever a minute/hour/whatever you set it to passes, and has a circle that visually represents how much time it passed. Stays always on top, the colors can be configured, and other buncha crap I forget.

I designed it so that it blends in with SAI, and so it can comfortably sit somewhere without looking like a modal window out of place... but the program is actually fully stand-alone and doesn't require anything else to run. Not a plugin, not an extension, not a script, a fully fledged app.

So yeah, if any of you been following me long enough to faintly remember my old stopwatch app (from back then when I would livestream), 1. I love you, 2. this one's gonna replace it.

I released initial version 4.0 yesterday but now I've updated it.
Version 4.1(b) fixes a bunch of bugs related to checkpoint saving (I had the nonidle-time and total time options reversed) and some options, and now features multiple work-app support, for anyone who has to switch back and forth between multiple programs at a time!

v4.1c adds keyboard detection, so that writers can use the idle detection functions too.
v4.2 adds chrono persistence and a funky parser for inputting initial times and "ring timescales"; so you don't need to write "3600 seconds" when you really wanna say "1 hour".

This will prove really useful, I've been looking for an application like this, I wonder how long I take drawing something and it'll help me to improve my times, thanks a lot!

This is actually really cool! People have asked how long it takes to finish something and I can only give a rough guess, which isn't ever close lmao

Would also make for a good practice/challenge thing for under an hour and stuff. Thank you! I'll def be trying it out tonight~

You're welcome! It works pretty well, though it's a little inaccurate if ClipStudio decides to do one of it's automated backup save things. But since it's not really made with that program in mind it doesn't REALLY matter because it's like maybe 5 seconds off or something.

I really enjoy it and I like seeing how long it actually takes to finish something!

I'm gonna have fun playing with this, regardless of how simple it is, it'll be nice to see exactly how long I take on an image.

Is it only for SAI?

Ignore above question, I found the answer by myself.

It doesn't work in Linux with WINE. It opens fine but it doesn't recognize any software, I tested it with GIMP and Firefox. It's really useful program so it would be really good if you can make Linux and Mac versions.

ahhh Linux... yeah unfortunately I'm not gonna be able to make a linux/mac port of it. Clickteam fusion 2.5 and all. but thanks for the wine feedback ^^

Cool app. I tried it for a while. It has a couple of things you need to work on. When I tried to change the color I got some menus that can't be read or click because they are too little and too close together.

yeah... unfortunately that's a space issue and i don't think I'll change that. i deliberately made them small so that they would all fit inside the program window. you'll have to use the mouse (or the arrow keys) for that if you the bars are way too small..
thanks for the feedback though!

I still use this for my work and I'm curious where the configuration file is stored? or is it in the registry? or is it stored in some browser since it seems to be a flash package?

thank you a lot for this!

Hi! It's a clickteam fusion application, the config file is located on
C:\Users\[your username]\AppData\Roaming\MMFApplications\stopwatching_configs.ini
but you can change it to portable mode if you right click on the app and go to Advanced Options (it will create a new config file in the same folder as the executable).

Thank you very much! I had forgotten I set it to portable mode on my old laptop but now I've found the configuration file I had before.
