BTW, “Pi” in mathematics is spelled as-is, without an “E” at the end.

I know..

actually... most calculators cannot handle pi, so E is a perfect end to it pi+E

i saw other articles that was updated today that said people working with hawkings had confirmed he was still alive. but i suppose this time it was actually happening. very sad to see him gone. may he rest among the stars.

I stopped caring. We are destroying ourselves, anyways (climate change, and burying the ocean in trash). So we'll be joining him, soon.

Rest in Peace.  Will miss him telling Sheldon off on the "Big Bang Theory."

He was one hell of an example on courage ... he made multiple discoveries, published books on hows the Universe work ... all that while he was nailed on that electric chair ... Salut Mister Hawking ... you were an example for all of us

Stephen Hawking's book got me into quantum mechanics and science as a kid.  The first science book I had outside of school was a tie, as my dad got me A Brief History of Time, about the same time I got Asimov's New Guide to Science, introducing me to both Stephen Hawking and Isaac Asimov in one fell swoop.

Sad day to see him go, but to quote Terry Pratchett “No one is actually dead until the ripples they cause in the world die away...”

Stephen Hawking left some big ripples, that will not die away for a long time.

Only bigger losses we've had in science are Richard Feynman and Carl Sagan.

Agreed the world is a lesser place without him.

Let us not forget his words. "Remember to look up at the stars."
