Make sure to call your bank and change all passwords for anything connected to it if you can *hugs*

They usually end up trying to help out and pay you back a portion of the money not sure what your bank it is you have but hopefully they do something similar to that. That's what my bank did for me at least when something similar happened to me.

Unless you live close you probably wont recognize most banks.. There is over 1000 banks in america of varying sizes where as in say canada there's like 6-7 major banks

You should call the police or something, that's a felony!

Lotsa luck getting the local police to do anything if it was done from some third world country, or from some country that is hostile to the United States.

If that was the case, "felony" don't mean shit. There are some places in the world where no one will dare to go after them (Somalia being a good example).

yeah not sure if that will work

I don't know what to do once it happens.
But as soon as my social security check posts this month, it's getting about that time again for me to withdraw most of my, what is now $1,900, from my account, leaving enough in to keep the account open.
I always keep most of my money hidden in numerous places where I live...That way it can not fall victim to a cyber hacking.

I've been told that everything from drug cartels to terrorist groups hack hundreds of other people's bank accounts all over the world everyday when ever their operating capitol runs low...They don't have to walk into a bank lobby anymore wearing ski-masks and wielding guns, or dynamite a bank vault at 3:00 in the morning. Now days, they just do it on a keyboard from a hostile country half way around the world.

It seems FDIC insures if a bank goes under, but does not insure against an individual account getting hacked.
There was the day and time that a bank was the safest place to keep your money...not anymore now days since the internet came into existence.

yeah that's that's scary to me thinking that my money is being used by a cartel or terrorist

It happens to lots of folks everyday.

Heck...Most of the places where we fuel up our cars get their motor fuel from oil that was produced by middle eastern countries that support terrorists...It's like, every time you fill your tank - you patronize countries that support terrorism.

You should be covered in most situations

Yea hacking is quite common anymore.. usually it's thru social engineering or AWS buckets without passwords or some crap.. ATMs are also very risky so you probably wanta try and avoid them.. also avoid pretty much everything IoT

Have you gone to the bank and the FDIC yet?

If someone has hacked in, its serious. It requires you to change all passwords, bank account numbers and your pin to something that only you would know. It also important to diversify your accounts so that you don't have too much to take.

They can get your money back, because well the FDIC basically insures your account as long as you follow the banks rules and terms of service mostly.

yeah i went and saw them today and come to find out 60 to 100 other's  got hacked as well  and it's going to take them some time to fix it

I'm working to get into the IT Security field, and yes everything can be hacked, no matter how many firewalls, or passwords or locks or what have you. If I am persistent enough and study how to break in long enough, I will eventually succeed and not get caught.

Most hacks are months or even years in the making. So breaches aren't something that just happens at random, penetration testers take their time, run setups, and work out their plans in virutal environments. The downside is even the penetration testers, white hats and red hats have the exact same setups as the black hats.

So yeah diversify your money, I don't have much money in any account right now. So I am safe. Because I don't have anything to take.
