Ok, first off, I really don't review games, but this was my childhood game and I love it! Ok, even though I played it when it came out, I really couldn't sit down to really play it till today cause of work. But I just did the Pure Lands and about to raid the Mana Fortress. But there (sadly) are a few issues that kill me.
One: They got rid of the action grid. I loved this cause I could keep the two characters I wasn't controlling from attacking and getting too close and get hit cause their defense sucked anyways.
Two: The enemies are really freaking aggressive. Spell casters cast every few seconds while ranged users attack every second and essentially stun-lock you if you aren't careful. Melee users do 3-6 hit combos. Most of the game isn't hard, but some areas are better to just run cause of this, lol.
Three: Your attacks miss a lot more than usual. From my experience, I miss about 75-80% of the time. So charging your weapons is pretty pointless IMO. Kills the entire reason you're getting weapon orbs. Though when you actually do hit with a charged attack, it's pretty powerful.
Four: Not really a big complaint, but in the original on SNES, when you got a critical it would say, "Rabite got WHACKED!" They took that out. :( Just says, "Axe Beak takes a critical hit!"
But all-in-all, if you played the original or just want something different, I would HIGHLY recommend it! One of my favorite games growing up and it still is.
